Liam-Six Months Old

Stradley Kids-Summer 2011
These are images from the yearly session with our nephew and nieces (they all have birthday’s between April and June, so we usually update their pictures all at once). We met downtown Holland fairly early in the morning to catch some of that soft morning light as well as good moods from the kids. We took a short walk posing here and there and then ended at the splash pad for some wet action shots. Knowing your subjects well can be an advantage or a disadvantage–some kids behave more politely when they’re a little bit shy. During this session, however, I think our relationship with the kids was to our huge advantage as we were able ask about their interests, make them laugh and document a slew of imaginary scenario’s we were familiar with. For example, my neice Reina (4) took a photo with her imaginary horse, Adora. I love the expression on her face as she imagines that she is posing mounted on a beautiful horse. Braden (6) had multiple victorious expressions (by far the best smiles of the morning) as I asked him to show me what it looks like to….”win a light saber fight”….or “beat angry birds”. Peyton (2) just kept smirking right into the camera.

Timmer Family
The extended Timmer family session took place at the Harbour Towne Marina in Muskegon. Instead of taking the boat out on the lake, we decided to just do our session in the marina and at the nearby beach. I’m glad we made this call as we had quite a few more options than we would have in the close quarters of the boat. Rob and I both came along for this session which allowed us to shoot quickly and get the larger group shot as well as the smaller family shots all taken care of within an hour or so. The second photographer upgrade to the family sessions is particularly well suited for extended families–it’s new this season and has worked out really well so far.

Eden and Conner-Eight Months
Eden and Conner are eight months old! Our session took place on the beautiful Hope College campus. Looking forward to the one year session coming right up!

Molly-Three Days Old
It was great to meet little Molly last week. At only three days old, she was making eye contact with the camera and even attempted to lift her head up once! Macen fit the role of big brother very well as he’s suddenly (or at least it seems to me) very verbal and independent. We’ve known the White’s for years, but they’ve recently (just over a year ago) moved back to Holland from the Denver area. We’ve enjoyed having them around and watching their family grow. Jenny started a great business here in West Michigan called Mom’s In Tow which provides moms and expecting moms a way to find great discounts at local businesses (such as Walcott Imaging–wink!), meet others for social events, and attend healthy and educational activities in West Michigan. Brad is a professional cyclist and a really good one at that. Congratulations to the White’s on growing from three to four and welcome to Molly!
